FAQS

General dentists provide comprehensive dental services from preventative care to emergency dental care. With general dentistry taking a proactive approach to dental care, our primary focus is to prevent and treat dental problems with good oral hygiene and services. Whether you want to improve your oral health or address a dental problem you are suffering from, our general dentists are here to help.

Poor oral hygiene can lead to a range of problems, including tooth decay, bone loss and even cardiovascular diseases. Unfortunately, the common practice among most people is to visit the dentist when they are experiencing pain in their mouth. However, that should not be the case. You must make it a point to visit your dentist for regular check-ups at least every six months, even if you don’t have any dental problems. With regular dental visits, you can prevent dental problems from arising in the first place by taking preventative measures and addressing problems in their early stages.

Along with regular dental visits, practicing a good oral hygiene routine at home is important. It should include brushing your teeth twice daily, flossing once daily and maintaining a well-balanced diet. A combination of these practices will drastically reduce your risk of complications and leave you with a healthy, confident smile.

Professional dental cleanings have a significant impact on your oral and overall health. Despite following a proper oral hygiene routine at home, there are some hard-to-reach areas in your mouth that you can’t clean with just brushing and flossing.

Professional teeth cleaning can clean these hard-to-reach areas and remove tartar or calculus that have accumulated in your mouth over time. This helps prevent painful diseases like gum disease while also removing stains and making your smile brighter.

Your oral health is linked to your overall health. So, in addition to dental problems, poor oral health can lead to medical conditions like diabetes, heart disease and respiratory diseases. This is why it’s important to maintain good oral health.

With a proper oral hygiene routine and regular check-ups, you can minimise the risk of dental and health problems to a great extent. Good oral health will make life better and save you time and costly treatment down the road.

It’s generally recommended that you take your child to the dentist by the time they reach one year or within six months of getting their first tooth. Taking your children to the dentist early on in their lives has several benefits, such as:

  • It allows your child to familiarise themselves with the dental setting, dental tools and procedures.
  • It helps create positive associations with dental visits. This will set the tone for future dental visits and reduce dental anxiety.
  • Early visits to the dentist helps our dentists identify any issues with your child’s tooth development and address them promptly.
  • Provides an opportunity for parents and children to learn about oral hygiene practices.

Past their first visit, we generally recommend visiting the dentist for regular checkups every 6 months. Remember, when you prioritise visiting the dentist from a young age, it will set the tone for a lifetime of good oral practices and ensure good dental health.
